L. Poundie Burstein (Ph.D., City University of New York) - music theory. A specialist in Schenkerian theory, his articles and reviews of the music of Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, and others have appeared in journals such as Musical Quarterly, Music Analysis, Theory and Practice, and Journal of Music Theory. Before joining the Hunter faculty, Dr. Burstein taught theory and analysis for many years at Mannes College. He also freelances as a pianist for comedy improvisation groups and develops computer programs for music theory instruction.
