Submission of Papers and Analyses

The Electronic Journal of Music Theory and Analysis encourages professors and doctoral students to submit papers on any subject related to music theory. Also, subject-specific analyses of compositions are accepted (e.g. "Motivic development in Schoenberg's Op. 9", not "An exhaustive analysis of the rhythm, pitch, form, and timbre of Op. 9").

Please submit papers either by e-mail to this site (mailroom@musictheoryresources.com) or by mail  to Music Theory Resources, 5210 N. Bryn Mawr, Fresno, CA 93711.  Be aware that e-mail submissions may encounter formatting problems and that a hard copy and disk may be requested from you later.

Papers should be on the shorter side of average length (although make certain to treat your subject thoroughly).  Remember, your readers are looking at a computer screen.  Be sure to obtain permission from the publisher to use musical examples.  We adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style.

Please include a brief bio with your submission for the contributors' page in the journal.

Papers will be reviewed by the editorial board for style, content, and quality.  The board will not issue an opinion on the accuracy of the findings; this will be left to the readers, this being a forum.

Note: all published papers become the property of Music Theory Resources.
